Current Skin Care Routine

My skin care routine has never been extensive. I cleansed and moisturized and that was really all there was to it. Then I turned 25 and realized it was time to start taking better care of my skin.

My cleansing routine consists of using a cleansing oil, either the Garnier or Neutrogena one, followed by cleansing with my Spa Sonic cleansing brush with Philosophy Purity cleanser

I alternately use Equate Clarifying toner and the Dickinson's Original witch hazel. The equate toner I usually use in the morning because it's got that nice cooling feel to it. I find it less drying than other toners I briefly dabbled with in the past. I think I stopped using them because they dried out my dry skin even more. The witch hazel makes my skin feel SO soft and really hydrated. The only thing I hate is the smell. I know it's a natural scent, but I really despise it. I'll continue to deal with it because I like how it makes my skin feel. I'll just be holding my breath!

For moisturizer I've found a few things I really like. I tried out a sample kit from Sephora and really like what I got. The kit is still available here. The main thing I really enjoy from the kit is the overnight mask. It's amazing and really makes my skin feel nice and refreshed. The sample size has lasted me months now because I don't use it every night. I plan to purchase the full size. The extended thirst relief moisturizer that comes with the kit is also really nice. It does a nice job, but I have found with my extremely dry skin that the moisture surge intense also by Clinique, does a better job for me. I tried the moisture surge intense as a point perk and also plan to purchase the full size of that as well. All in all I have to say that Clinique skin care seems really nice from the three things I've tried. I would like to try out other products from the line.

On the nights I don't use the Clinique overnight mask I have been using the Olay regenerist luminous overnight mask. It's a gel formula so it's water based and won't add oil to your skin if you're oily. It sinks in really fast and feels great on my skin. It does have just a slight tackiness, but you won't stick to the pillow or anything. I really enjoy using it.

Now for eye cream I think I'm still on the hunt. I've been using the CeraVe eye repair cream. I like how moisturized my under eye area feels when I use it, but I have one major problem every time I use it. My eyes start watering like crazy. Literally tears streaming down my face and my eyes aren't even stinging or anything! I'm not putting it in my eye or too near the water line. I just pat it in gently. I have no idea what could be causing it. It's fragrance free so it's not that. I guess I'll use this up and see what else I find.

And finally the last item I use on a regular basis is the Body shops vitamin C skin boost serum. This claims to boost skin radiance. I don't really feel like I look any more radiant per se, but I do enjoy the added moisture it gives me. It smells like citrus and feels so nice and smooth. It really melts into the skin. I'm not sure this is worth repurchasing since I don't really feel like it's doing what it claims to, but I will definitely use it up because I like it for other reasons.

That sums up my skin care routine. It's certainly not the most complex system, but I feel like just being in a routine is a big step for me. Thanks for reading Lovely Mermaids :)
